The season started at WFO Thunderbird and some of the best drivers in DTR2 came out for their chance at fame.

The night got started with the pill draw and VLR drew the #1 and the #16 pill to completely envelope the field.

VLR_Wheel would lead the field in the 1st heat. Starting on the pole he would never look back as the race would be for 2nd as WFO Blaze, WFO Sidebite, and GLH_Bubba would fight it out over the 2 transfer spots. After 12 laps Wheel would take the win with Blaze and Sidebite outdueling Bubba for the final 2 spots.

Heat 2 provided another great 3 way battle for 2nd as WFO Rain would check out on the field. VLR_Shock would come from the 8th starting spot up to 2nd with WFO 17Va and WFO Ice making it a 3 way battle. Ice would push up and put 17Va in the wall allowing Shock to pull away for 2nd. Ice would retreat and let 17Va back around and they would do battle with Ice eventually grabbing the final transfer spot.

The “B” was a wild one as 17Va would jump out into the lead with Bubba close in tow. Bubba would misjudge his approach into the corner clipping 17Va and causing the BIG ONE. 6 cars would be rendered useless after the wreck leaving just 3 left on the track. Doit 87 would take home the win with WFO Ranger limping home 2nd, XRT_34 would finish 3rd. After the race 17Va would be awarded the 4th and final transfer spot after leading at the time of the wreck.

The Budweiser Dash would be another wild affair as Rain and Wheel would be on the front row and would do battle from the drop of the green. Blaze would get into Shock sending him to the pits after lap 3. Ice would use the contact between Blaze and Shock to sneak into the 3rd spot. In the meantime Wheel and Rain continued to swap the lead. On lap 9 Wheel would go in low and force Rain into the wall but Rain would recover quickly and get the lead back in turn 3. On the last lap Wheel would get the lead going into turn 1 and Rain would draft him down the back stretch. Rain would get into the rear of Wheel getting him sideways allowing Rain to grab the lead and the win.

The WFO 50 would have Rain and Wheel on the front row and at the drop of the green Wheel would jump the burm allowing Ice to get to 2nd. The fight would start from 3rd on back as Shock, Wheel and Blaze would battle for the 3rd spot. Rac, Sidebite and 17Va would start battling for the 6th spot. Rain would open up a .3 lead on Ice and it would fluctuate between .2 and .3 for the next 20 laps. Shock would clear for the 3rd spot as the best battle on the track was between Wheel and Blaze for the 4th spot. Blaze would contunally put pressure on Wheel but in the meantime the top 3 would continue to pull away from them. Lap 38 XRT_34’s tire would explode bringing out the yellow. On the restart Rain would once again get a good start with Ice, Shock, and Wheel close behind. On lap 42 Shock would get into Ice and check up, Wheel couldn’t check up in time and would smash his teammate ending both of their nights a few laps early. This would put Ice 7 tenths behind Rain and Ice would push his car as hard as he could but it was Rain picking up the win and the $30,000 that went to the winner.

After the race we caught up to Rain. He had 2 strippers at his hauler spraying champaign over everone. “I had a great car tonight, I drove alittle hard in the dash but I never really had any pressure on me in the “A” Main. The track was perfect tonight, I could run anywhere on the track I needed to.” Catching up with Ice was alittle more difficult. He went to talk to Shock and cooler heads prevailed. We asked what was said and Ice said “I just wanted to see what happened on his end. I had a great car tonight and I knew that restart was gonna cause trouble and then we got together letting Rain get away and the fight was on. I had a great car tonight, I was just biding my time until the caution flew and I knew it was gonna be a dog fight from there.”

Next week we will be at WFO Boone
