Attica Ohio: The Traveling WFO Tour rolled into the famed 1/3 mile Attica Raceway Monday night with 28 cars pulling in. VLR Shock would make his 1st start in the TNL’s this season along with 8 other drivers,
Heat 1 would be loaded as Wheel, F1yer, Shock, JJ, and Scrub would be looking to finish in the top 2. JJ would start outside pole and lead every lap and F1yer would make his way up to 2nd and get the transfer spot.
Heat 2 would see DK, Sidebite, and Rain battle it out for 12 laps as DK would run the high side to keep the lead and grab the win and Rain would settle for 2nd.
Heat 3 would see point’s leader Stealth having to come from 6th to try to make the field. Doit17 would jump out front with Zombie a close 2nd. Ice and Stealth would battle Zombie for 2nd. On the last lap Ice would hold 2nd going into turn 3 and Stealth would try a slide job. Ice tried to cut down and Zombie was sitting there knocking Ice back to 4th and Zombie to 2nd.
In “The Snicker’s Dash” JJ would grab the lead early and DK would be satisfied running 2nd. Wheel would get to 3rd before having a tire cut down sending him to 6th, Rain, Zombie, and Doit17 would come across the line in 3rd, 4th, and 5th.
B1 would see F1yer and Stealth pull away for the 2 transfer spots
In B2 Ice, Shock, and Sidebite would have a great battle as Ice and Shock would make it to the feature.
The “A” Main kicked off with a record crowd in attendance. As JJ and DK would lead the star studded field into turn 1. JJ would pull in front of DK coming off turn 2 with Doit17 and Wheel following. On lap 4 Wheel would use the high side to get around Doit17 for 4th.
The next lap F1yer would pinch Doit17 into the wall for 5th allowing Ice and Shock to close the distance. Wheel would quickly catch DK and take over the 3rd position. F1yer would then catch DK and misjudge a slide job pushing DK off the backstretch on lap 10.
DK would come back onto the track in 6th but would slide high and clip the wall slowing his momentum and Stealth would hit him in the rear sending him back off the track in turn 1.
By lap 12 Rain and Wheel would be locked into a great battle for 2nd. Both drivers pulling slide jobs and putting on a show for the crowd. Lap 15 Rain would move up the track and pinch Wheel into the front straight wall.
Rain would then slow up a bit to give Wheel the position back. This however would let F1yer, Doit17, and Ice gain on them making it a 6 car race for 2nd. Ice would then move to the high side of Doit17 making the pass for 5th and F1yer would get loose off of turn 4 moving Ice to the 4th position.
By lap 20 JJ had extended his lead over Wheel and Rain to over .4 seconds as Wheel and Rain continued to battle side by side. On lap 22 F1yer would start putting the pressure on Ice for the 4th spot and eventually using a slide job to clear him on lap 24.
Lap 25 would see JJ’s lead evaporate as he would slide off the track coming out of turn 2, giving the lead to Wheel. At the same time F1yer would catch Rain and the battle for 3rd would heat up. Ice, Doit17, and Shock would continue their battle for the 5th position going 3 wide several times.
JJ continued to keep the pressure on Wheel looking for any mistake he could use to get around. But it would be JJ who would make the mistake, jumping the cushion in 3&4 allowing Rain and F1yer to get around. This would allow Wheel to get out to a comfortable lead with 3 laps to go.
Wheel would lead coming to the white flag but going into turn 3 on the last lap his car would suddenly spin and Rain, F1 and JJ would zip by giving the win to Rainman!!! F1yer and JJ would finish 2nd and 3rd. Wheel would recover for 4th with Ice rounding out the top 5.
Shock would grab 6th and Doit17 would motor home 7th. Stealth would get 8th and Zombie and DK would finish 9th and 10th.
After the race we caught up to Wheel as he was visibly upset. “Man this piece of $h!t gas pedal just came off man, I had this thing won and it just broke!!! Wheel would then find Mama Tiger and she rocked him to sleep in the trailer.
Rain was in victory lane when we caught up to him. “Wow I don’t know what happened but luck was on my side tonight. I had a great car and had a great race with Wheel for a bunch of laps. Looked like he had another tire go down there and I was in the right place at the right time.”
