Wheatland, Missouri (March 20, 2012): 27 of the fastest drivers on dirt pulled into the heartland of America for the running of the 6th Annual Spring Fling. Many drivers were not able to make the trip due to serious flooding in the Midwest over the last 2 days but the ones that did vowed to put on a show for the 18,428 paying fans.

Qualifying got underway with Wheel starting off the qualifying and set a blistering pace with a 13.47. Several other drivers would attempt to knock Wheel of the top of the podium including teammate Shock who ran a 13.49, JSN ran a 13.50 and Blaze clocked a 13.52. Wheel would hold off all challengers and win the fast qualifier and a track of his choice to be built by WFO_69 (BMS)

This year was a little different because after qualifying the top 4 in each heat was inverted putting BMS on the pole for heat 1. However it was Ice who would jump out to the lead using the momentum on the high side to get to the point and lead the first 9 laps. Blaze would work the high side and get around Ice on lap 10 and Wheel would follow suit pushing Ice back to 3rd.

Ice would not go away however and would make a last ditch effort to qualify for the dash and drive in hard into turn 1 making contact with Wheel. They would both keep their positions and Ice took one more shot coming out of turn 4 putting Wheel into the wall but backed off to insure that Wheel would advance along with Heat 1 winner Blaze.

Heat 2 would start off with Kevin and Slammer on the front row. That would not last long however because Shock was on a mission and would quickly take control of heat 2 leaving Slammer and Starnes to battle it out for the 2nd spot. Slammer was able to keep the momentum built up on the high side to preserve the 2nd transfer spot along with Heat 2 winner Shock.

Heat 3 was probably the most action packed heat of the night with Zombie and McGee making up the front row. But Jim, T92, and JSN would battle it out for the win. JSN would have trouble getting around Zombie and this allowed T92 to sneak by and battle it out with Jim for the remaining 7 laps. It would come down to a replay review to show that Jim was able to win by a nose but T92 was happy making it to the Snicker's Dash.

D-Main action would see newcomer Spinner hold off Geisler and Zombie who all 3 would make the C-Main. $uperbolt would be the final car to transfer out of the "D".

Rain would get it done after a bad heat race by winning the C-Main by over a half second. Tony, BMS, and Kev would make up the final 3 spots in the "B".

In the B-Main Ice would lead all 20 laps after breaking away on the start. F1yer would charge from 4th to 2nd and JSN would maintain his 3rd starting spot. Starnes dropped from 2nd back to 4th but was able to hang on to that all important final transfer spot.

The "Snicker's" Dash would see teammates Wheel and Shock on the front row. but it was Jim who had ideas about getting to the front from his 4th starting spot. Jim would on Shock for the 2nd spot and was finally able to get around on lap 9.

Wheel would cruise on to the win and the month of free servers (thanks to WFO Blaze). Jim would come home 2nd and Shock right behind him in 3rd. Blaze was able to keep  4th spot when Slammer and T92 rounding out the Snicker's Dash.

Finally it was the time that everyone had been waiting for. The 6th Annual Spring Fling A- Feature was upon us and we were down to 10 drivers with a shot to claim the top prize. Starting in the front row was Wheel and Jim. Second row was Shock and Blaze. Third row would see Slammer and upstart T-92. 4th row is teammates Ice and F1yer., and the 5th row would be JSN and step brother Starnes.

The green flag would drop with Wheel getting the jump going into turn  1 and Shock moving into the 2nd spot sending Jim back to 3rd. Should would immediately start putting pressure on wheel for the lead. On lap 8 Blaze would work his way around Jim for 3rd and Ice had moved up into 5th.

By lap 9 Ice had caught Jim and on lap 11 he had gotten around him for 4th and JSN would round out the top 5. T-92 was in a dogfight with F1, Slammer, and Starnes for the 6th position. Back up front Shock continued his assault on Wheel thus allowing Blaze to chop into their lead. Then on lap 18 Starnes would blow a right rear tire (and a shrimp salesman) causing the 1st caution of the evening, bunching up the field for a Delaware restart.

On lap 19 Wheel would have the front row to himself with Shock and Blaze starting right behind him. F1yer looked poised to start making his run to the front and would make his way around Ice for the 5th spot then on lap 27 he would get around Jim moving himself up to 4th. T-92, Ice, and Jim would then have a great battle for the 5th spot.

Meanwhile up front Wheel was keeping Blaze and Shock at bay and these 3 would show what great drivers come to the Spring Fling. Then on lap 38 while in the middle of 3-way slide jobs and crossovers Shock would make contact with Blaze sending him spinning into the infield.

Restart #2 would once again have Wheel as the leader with Shock and F1yer on his tail. These 3 would fight it out for about 7 laps when F1yer would get into the rear bumper of Shock getting him sideways and finally getting spun by Ice who was coming in on the bottom. This would send Shock and F1yer both to the tailback and would move Ice and T-92 up to 3rd and 4th.

This seemed to be the big break that Wheel would need because on the 3rd restart he would take off and build a huge lead as T-92 and Ice would do battle for 2nd. Shock however would quickly make his way back through the field and by lap 61 he was back into the 4th position, by lap 67 he had made his way into the 3rd spot after getting around T-92.

By lap 71 he had made his way around Ice. But by this time VLR_18 had gotten out to a full 2.4 second lead and had it on cruise control until lap 80 when Ice would fade back to 5th as Starnes and Slammer had gotten around him for the 3rd and 4th position then Ice would catch the wall coming out of turn 4 causing Blaze to collect him spinning him in turn 1 thus setting up an exciting 20 lap shootout for the win.

So with 20 laps remaining Shock was once again in position to contend for the lead with Starnes sitting in 3rd and Slammer in 4th. On the restart Shock would once again start throwing everything but the kitchen sink trying to get around his teammate. While Blaze had gotten back to 3rd trying to run them down.

Starnes and Slammer would do battle for 5th giving Ice a chance to make it a 3-way dog fight. Up front it was still Wheel holding off the advances of Shock lap after lap until lap 98 when Shock would hit Wheel in the rear going into turn 4 thus being able to garner the lead for the 1st time as Wheel got loose on the bottom line.

Wheel however had decided that he wasn't going to let Shock "win that way" and drove the Tennessee native through the wall in turns 3 and 4 sending Shock back to 6th on the final lap. Wheel would cross the line in 1st and would go to the weigh-in station as the 6th Annual Spring Fling champion.

But that is when it started to get interesting as Shock would immediately file a protest on Wheel's victory. After several long minutes in the replay booth Spring Fling Official BLS_Ice would determine that according to the rule : 2 car position penalty for a major incident: Bumping a car out of more than 1 position, contact by accident. Thus giving the win to WFO Blaze securing his 1st ever Spring Fling win.

After the race we caught up to the winner as he was jumping up and down at his hauler. "Man I can't believe what happened there at the end. I knew I had a car that could win but really got down on myself early after getting spun then having a hell of a time getting back through the field. Seemed like I would take 1 step forward and 2 steps back. Finally at the end I was able to work my way back up to 3rd then the VLR show came into play then about 20 minutes after the race Ice had informed me that I had been declared the winner and I was on cloud nine!".

Shock was decidedly beside himself as he had to be restrained from going to the #18 pits. "This was total BS. I drove my ass off to get back to the front the we made contact and I was able to get around him then in 3n4 he decides to put me through the wall! I had to file a protest because I didn't really care who was declared the winner as long as it wasn't Wheel! So congrats to Blaze on his win!"

Wheel was also being restrained from trying to get to the #0's pit box. "I lead this thing for 98 [bleep]ing laps and Shock decides to come in and punt me out of the lead. I'll be damned if he is going to win it like that. I thought Ice's decision was fair and I was happy with the fact that Shock wasn't given the win! I'm sick of him driving me that way and I think some drastic changes are about to be made! I'm not gonna lead 98 laps in any race and lose, I don't care who's faster than me"

2nd place finisher Ice was a little more apologetic. "Man when the VLR boys got into it up front I was in a hell of a fight with Starnes and I didn't know where to go and I walled him pretty good. So I wanted to say sorry to him for that and 2nd place was a pretty good finish for the new Venom Energy Drink car. Then as soon as the race was over I had to go make a tough decision but according to the rules that Karl and I came up with it was an easy call and it was right there in black and white. Wheel was given the chance to appeal the decision but said as long as Shock don't win he is fine with it, and Shock said as long as Wheel didn't win it was a good night.

So the 6th Annual Spring Fling is in the books and Blaze was able to hang on and get the win. The final results are as follows:
