FARMER CITY, ILL (October 22, 2010)- VLR_Shock continued his quarter-mile supremacy in the crate series by VLR this season with a win at Farmer City Raceway on Friday night to make it 4-for-4 at the short tracks this season.

The Crossville, Tn. driver looked strong throughout the race, but the final result was in doubt all the way until the final lap when the 22-year-old outgunned last season’s championship runner up BLS_Dustin to squeak out the win by .005 seconds.

VLR_Shock now holds an impressive twelve point lead over Hickory, N.C. driver BLS_F1yer as the racers head down the stretch for the final five races of the season.

“I was pretty nervous because I actually thought me and Dustin had the fastest cars and I was trying to follow him for a while,” said Shock, who has driven his NOS Energy/Team VLR Toyota Camry to victory in four of the last five VLR Crates shows. “Then I seen F1yer go on the outside of me a few times so I figured he was pretty fast, too.

“I didn’t really know what to think early on because there was four of us and we were trading spots like crazy early on.”

The win was impressive for the young driver, as he was entrenched in a battle with BLS_Dustin, BLS_F1yer, and VLR_18 for the top spot all throughout the race before prevailing in the end.

Shock finally maneuvered his way around the 22 of Dustin with just ten laps to go and withstood a strong effort from the Hindman, Ky. driver on the final lap to keep his streak of wins at quarter-mile dirt tracks going into the next race at Bloomington 2k11, another quarter-mile oval.

BLS_Dustin settled for second after leading much of the first half of the race over a stout field. The fiery competitor didn’t stay for comment after the race with his emotions running high for coming so close to winning in his first start of the season.

VLR_18 of Brookfield, Wi. settled for third place after working his way by fourth-finishing BLS_F1yer in the closing laps. Defending VLR Crates point champion VLR_McGee of Spartanburg, S.C. rounded out the top five finishers after fifty laps of racing on the high-banked short track.

A winner three times on the season already, all at short tracks, VLR_Shock contributed his successes to his lightning quick Toyota Camry and a great setup.

“I think Dustin and I had the fastest cars here tonight,” said VLR_Shock, who made up for losing the heat race to BLS_Dustin by beating him in the feature. “I just bided my time and made the right moves when they were there.

“I knew if we didn’t let him run away with it we’d have a heck of a race at the end.”

Third place finisher VLR_18 agreed with his teammate’s observation after playing his part in a four car battle for the win.

“It was a good race, a few fireworks there,” said VLR_18, who started fifth and held the runner-up spot from lap 17 to the finish. “I don’t know just every time we got up there it was like we’d hit a brick wall and stop the momentum.

“It ain’t no big deal. I think I had a car that could’ve won, but it didn’t fall my way I guess.”

VLR_Shock certainly didn’t win the race with ease, but his late pass to root BLS_Dustin up the track proved good enough to secure the victory.

“I tried to pass him (Dustin) as clean as I could,” said VLR_Shock, who started on the outside pole. “I thought I got around him good but it’s so hard to pass here without touching anyone because everyone is shooting for the bottom. Hopefully he’s not mad at me. I gave him the bottom on the last lap and we beat him to the line. I thought it was a good race.”

BLS_F1yer crossed the line not far behind VLR_18, but the 33-year-old driver’s fourth place finish was actually his worst of the season, and he voiced his displeasure following the race.

“I got blocked the whole race. Me and Wheel (VLR_18) had the outside going, that’s pretty much it,” said F1yer. “I mean, we got bumped the whole damn time. The whole race it just felt like nobody respected where you were running.

“I don’t think it was a dirty race, but I just didn’t think it was respectful.”

VLR_McGee, 44, drove his hawkeyetrucksales.com Ford Fusion to a fifth place finish, and was all smiles after the race despite never really challenging for the top four positions.

“I’m happy Shock got the win, happy, uh, just happy, happy, happy,” said an elated VLR_McGee. “I’m gonna go poop some rainbows now.”

Finishing in positions 6-10 were BLS_Jsn of Kokomo, In; VLR_AMP of Welland, On, Canada; WFO_Ranger, Doit 42 of Phoenix, AZ, and BLS_Zombie of National City, Mi.

The race was one of the most competitive all season, and the Crates tour returns on November 5th to Bloomington Speedway 2k11 in Indiana to race fifty laps on the newly remodeled surface in what will undoubtedly be another exciting race featuring the top names in online racing.

All eyes will be on VLR_Shock as this will be the fifth time in seven races that the Crates head to a quarter-mile track, and Shock looks to make it 5-for-5 and leave no uncertainty that he is the short track king in dtr2.

Eighteen cars were signed in for the evening’s action, which ran under a beautiful full moon on a cool Illinois night.

Heat winners were VLR_AMP, BLS_Dustin, and VLR_18. BLS_Jsn! captured the B-Main.

The Crates will be off until November 5th when they return to Bloomington Speedway 2k11 to start the second half of the season. The VLR Gen 3 tour will return November 7th at the same track in a late season showdown.
