CANANDAIGUA, NY (August 16, 2012)- Canandaigua, NY was filled with traffic as fans from all over the country came to watch their favorite drivers at the Jan Corcoran Memorial for 100 laps. Double points night was a big deal to many of the competitors. There were many great competitors including the Canandaigua Speedway natives VLR_21*, 51g, ATR_22p, and Gibbz. Other competitors such as BLS_Kev, XCR_1, HLR_Brad and others came to throw some dirt.

Heat 1 was won by Gibbz followed by 51g, XCR_1, Dom Roselli, and IFRT Fly rounded out the field. Heat 2 was won by VLR_21* followed by BLS_Kev, ATR_22p, and HLR_Brad.

After intermission it was time for the 100 laps at the Land of Legends. Gibbz would lead off the field followed by VLR_21*, 51g, BLS_Kev (Houston, TX), and XCR_1 (Sarver, PA) as the top 5 starters on the board. Gibbz (Waterloo, NY) would lead just 3 laps until VLR_21* (Geneva, NY) went by on lap 3. After just 11 laps Dom Roselli's night would come to an end early as his car left a trail of blue smoke.

The field would restart with 89 laps to go. As the field restarted VLR_21* jumped out to an impressive 1.6 second lead as the race with caution free lap 24 to lap 89. With just 11 to go, Gibbz would meet the turn 4 wall and bring out the yellow.

The field restarted and 51g was the outside polesitter with one thing on his mind. The green dropped and 21* jumped out to a 3 car length lead as 51g and BLS_Kev would race it out. after 100 laps, VLR_21* would not look back as he took the Potent Troyer Racecars 21v machine to Victory Lane for the big win.

"I got out to the lead and knew I was clear, so I just tried my best to keep hitting my marks. That last caution I looked at the board and saw my little brother behind lining up right behind me and I knew I couldn't let him beat me," stated the New York Native.

Velez has been a happy driver lately as he just sealed the deal at ERL Sunday by winning his 1st ever points championship. Winning 3 races on his way to the title he had a great season.

The top two positions were kept in the family as VLR_21* and little brother 51g crossed the line, followed by BLS_Kev, Gibbz, XCR_1, ATR_22p, IFRT_FLY, HLR_Brad and Dom Roselli with a DNF. It was an all New York top two and another New Yorker brought home fourth, showing the locals had what it took to win.

The next stop on the SDC tour is at Lawrenceburg Speedway where the drivers will turn 50 circuits around the fast dirt oval located in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. 8 Eastern in the VLR Ventrilo. Lineups will be handicapped in the feature by points.
