3.17.07 race winner
KsT_Cam picks up his first win of the season!...
KST_Cam motored past an entire field of drivers in the Main Event at VLR Saturday. Cam battled his way into the Main Event winning the B-Main and quickly charged to the front.

KST_Cam was followed by his teammate KST_3W as the two put together a 1,2 finish for KST. The two worked well together as they blasted through the field. Once both cars were out front they battle for the lead. Eventually Cam was able to pull away and soar for the win. KST_Cam also posted the fast lap of the race, an amazing 27.64 and displayed the most power under the hood in the race and goes on to capture a very impressive win.

Daytona Highlights

VLR unleashed 16 roaring Late Models on the enormous Daytona Dirt Super Speedway Saturday, March 17, 2007. Drivers did whatever they could to try and find as much speed as possible. Handling was not a big factor as pure speed would prevail for this event. Drafting was a role in helping these cars break away and run down the other competitors. Every bit of draft propelled each driver with more speed as was very much needed. Heat races kicked off with some typical Daytona speed. Each of the top 3 qualifiers in the race all came away with Heat race wins.

GNS_Mag, VLR_RD, and BERL_Wheel all conquered their heats. VLR_Kevin, TSR_Sweety, and KST_3W all advanced to the main event from their heats as well. B-Main action gave the fans something to watch. The top 2 in points VLR_BR and VLR_5150 had to battle their way into the Main event. GNS_Tyner and KST_Cam both wrapped up B-Main victories by getting out front and holding off charging opponents.

The Main Event kicked off and quickly brought fans to their feet. GNS_Mag who had been the early favorite was spun going into the very first turn and ruined his hopes of getting to victory lane. GNS_Tyner and KST_Cam started on the next to last row and put on an exciting spectacle. These two B-Main winners quickly hooked up and maneuvered their way to the front. KST_Cam later found him and his teammate KST_3W at the front as the two pulled away from the field.

The KST engines dominated as their horses under their hoods prevailed over all competitors. Cam eventually pulled away from his teammate to take the checkered flag. Great job to both of these guys for putting on an exciting show. GNS_Tyner came from the rear as well and brought home a 3rd place finish.

BERL_Wheel continued to be strong as he earned yet another top 5 as he has in the previous weeks. VLR_Kevin added a top 5 to his resume, nice to see Kev back at the tracks on the VLR circuit. He was the highest finishing VLR member, proving that the team needs to get together and work on their engine program some more.

VLR_BR, the winner the last two weeks in VLR, came away with 6th place and now he is our new points leader at VLR. He is only the third different person to lead the points this season.

TSR_Sweety amazed everyone with a fast racecar, as she, yes SHE, made her first Main Event in VLR with a 7th place finish. Prior to the race VLR_5150 held the points lead, but an 8th place causes him to find himself trailing VLR_BR by only six points.

VLR_RD slid back to ninth place after running up front for part of the race. Great to see RD with those VLR letters again, too. Welcome back bud! GNS_Mag may have had one of the best cars but an early spin killed his chances as he rounded out the field.

VLR_Shock's hauler was seen again broke down on the way to the track. The hauler seemed to have yet another blown out tire similar to previous weeks. Reports suggest the Shock has filed lawsuit against Goodyear and is suing them for 20 straight blown out tires on the way to the racetrack.

Hopefully Shock will win his settlement and new contracts and sign on bonuses will be awarded to every VLR Member. Unfortunately, this is unlikely to happen since all the other haulers passed him going down I-75 without stopping. Shock later would say in an interview:

"My goodness. I don't know what's up with Goodyear but I'm gonna have to put my Hoosiers from the late model on the hauler if I'm gonna get anywhere cause I definentely am not having a "Goodyear." Nobody stopped to help me out for the twentieth straight week and if someone doesn't stop next week I'll have to lower the contracts for VLR members so I can afford some better tires. I think the guys were racing their haulers to the track and didn't even pay attention to me skidding across the interstate. Believe it or not I was running third in the "Race to Daytona" before the tire blew...this is getting annoying...I had the hauler to beat no doubt. Even VLR_Jay passed me on his fishing boat without slowing down to help. Guess he was busy reeling in that giant bass because he never made it to the race."

We hope to see everyone back next week as VLR tried to tame the very fast, exciting half mile Knoxville Speedway for the VLR Knoxville Nationals. And lets hope Shock puts on the Hoosiers this week. Our salaries depend on it.

Pole Sitter- GNS_Mag

GnS*Mag posted a blazing 28.01 to top the charts at the extremely fast Daytona Dirt Speedway. It is the first pole for GNS_Mag this year as he beat out the always-fast VLR_RD by one hundredth of a second. GNS_Mag also won his heat race Saturday Morning and displayed a powerful racecar the entire day. Congratulations to GNS_Mag on a capturing the pole at the famous Daytona Speedway. It was the first pole by someone who is not a member of VLR this season.

Race Winner- KST CAM

KST_Cam conquered the 2 1/2 mile Super Speedway. KST_Cam roared from the rear of the field in the Main Event. Him and fellow KST teammate KST_3W battled for the lead and broke away from the pack. KST_Cam eventually out powered his teammate on route to winning his first at VLR this season. KST_Cam a former VLR winner, crossed the finish line at the checkered flag, spun doughnuts in the infield and jumped on the hood of his car excitingly after claiming a win at the most famous track in the world. He tried doing a backflip like Carl Edwards in NASCAR but landed on his head. Luckily he landed on the soft dirt and not asphalt. He refused ambulance treatment and was seen at SNO later that night coming home second to VLR_Radkon
