9/13/15 (Markleysburg, PA) - Team ICE opened its 12 week season at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex for the Labor Day Shootout. With the race being cancelled due to rain last weekend, the schedule was pushed back one week. 13 cars made the trek out to Roaring Knob as the rain finally ceased. Among the drivers was VLR_Shock, SKM_Smallz, JFR_Duster, and returning VLR_Momper. Only three of those would make the feature later on in the night.

Qualifying rolled out as ICE started using qualifying after ICE_KingGinger was called out on rigging the lineups. I personally don't believe he did. However, BLS_J-Mac ended up starting in the back a lot in recent ICE series. Top 3 in qualifying were Smallz, Atwood777 after taking a month break, and VLR_Bubba. Smallz and Atwood would start on the pole for the two heats. rmn00 did not qualify due to engine issues.

Heats began with Smallz taking heat #1 in style along with Bubba and newcomer 44Racing to advance to the six lap dash. Not making it out of the heat was ICE_MattB10, J-Mac and Eric41. Heat #2 was took by Shock after a side-by-side battle with Atwood for the 10 lap heat. ICE_KK21Jr also made it out of the heat after narrowly defeating a hard charging KG. Momper  and Duster had to settle for fifth and six.

The six lap dash was took by Smallz. Could Smallz sweep the whole night? Time will tell. The B-Main was took by Momper as he charged on the bottom from the back to take the B-Main victory. MB, KG, and J-Mac followed. Eric and Duster loaded up there cars for the night and headed up to the stands to watch the race.

With the preliminaries wrapped up, it was time for the 60 lap, Labor Day Shootout. At the drop of the green, pole sitter, Smallz, jumped out to a one second lead over Atwood. During the start, Shock fell back to 8th place and had to work his way up to the front. On lap 3 KG got into the wall and into the infield and had to put the car in reverse and keep going. About 11 laps in,a caution came out. MB started to have some tire problems as he got a right rear flare tire and loaded up for the night. This helped out KG as he was half a track behind. It also killed Momper as he had charged from 7th to 3rd in 11 laps on the bottom. Smallz also witnessed his one second lead disappear. On the restart, Smallz jumped out to another quick lead with Atwood in tow this time. Shock continued to work his way up the field to catch the leaders as KG's tires came in as he powered around Momper, KK, J-Mac, and 44 for 5th. Bubba also had a great restart as he jumped out ahead of the tail and started his journey to catch the front. The race continued green for 30 laps as Shock caught Smallz and Atwood as Bubba and KG were working there way up towards the front. Momper had cleared J-Mac and KK as well when suddenly another caution struck as 44racing was turned on the backstretch. The restart had killed Bubba and KG's momentum while gaining the leaders. With 19 laps remaining, the race restarted with Smallz and Atwood out front once again with Bubba and Shock on there bumper. In the back, KG had cleared the back of the pack but KK was not done with him. He pulled a slider on KG coming out of 4 only in return to to smash the wall on almost flip. He made it to the pits before a caution came out. Momper also was not done with KG as he threw his own slide jobs in the mix to get ahead of him. Momper succeeded by putting KG in the wall and ruining his night. The final five laps were nuts as Smallz, Atwood, Bubba, and Shock were all battling for the lead. Bubba got into Smallz with 4 to go and he fell back to 4th only to find himself in first a lap later. Shock then tried the slider and killed Smallz momentum on the top side down to the white flag. Smallz pulled another slider and Shock returned the favor in the final corner to get in front of Smallz. However, none of them Atwood hugged to the bottom take advantage of the two fighting to take the lead coming off the corner to win the Labor Day Shootout! Atwood was filled with joy after returning to win in his first race! Also, rookie 44Racing finished 6th in his first ICE race!
